The first demo moment for teachers took place on 2 October in Ghent. Teachers and stakeholders from 14 selected secondary schools from Flanders and Brussels were given an explanation about the VLINDER project.
Schools were told what the scientific objectives of the project entail and how they can get started with the VLINDER project in the classroom. The accompanying online course material will be made available later. The teachers learned to build a BUTTERFLY weather station themselves and got involved. Finally the material was distributed to build their BUTTERFLY station with the students.
VLINDER network operational in December
In the coming weeks, more demo moments will take place in Genk, Ghent and Mechelen. The more than 50 weather stations will then be built and installed by the students of these schools. The entire measuring network will then be operational on 1 December.
Another small tip for the schools that are coming to the upcoming demo moments. Provide a sufficiently large car or small van so that all colleagues can still get in the car on the return trip :-).
